I Dream All Night
I Dream All Night by Dave Froman
I dream all night in the dream of a dreamer,
Wander all night in a vision so dim,
Open the door to cast out the shadow,
Cold is the wind, and the air on the sea.
Pale is the light in the eyes of the dreamer,
Breathing held tight in the hush of the trees,
Echo of longing bounds across water,
Calling to me like a song on the breeze.
I dream at night of the voice that is calling,
At night I dream of the rush out to see,
I long to fly on the wind out to find her,
Moon in shroud it follows me.
River and sky, embers are burning,
She passes by, and I rush out to see.
Spirit arise, in my soul lies a whisper,
Silent my heart, in a land without dreams.
Long is the day as I hover in waiting.
Dark is the night, as I fade into dawn.
Will I know rest in the valley of shadow?
Reach out my hand / in a glimmer of light / she is gone.
